BLACKBURN were made to work hard for victory against a determined Hutton side in this friendly game.

The game was played in a downpour and blustery wind which made any flowing rugby virtually impossible.

Burn gave débuts for scrum half Gareth Bullen and winger Nathan Peel while Gareth Evans, Ed Barron and Simon Calcutt all returned to the starting lineup.

The game started with Burn enjoying the wind at their backs and soon found some territorial dominance.

Burn missed a penalty before a smart attacking move allowed hooker Paul Millea to apply an excellent finish. Evans conversion attempt was blown off course.

The second half was an even affair. Full back Nick Barnes moved to fly half with player coach Dino Radice returning to his previous position of full back.

Evans extended Blackburn's lead with a superb penalty in slippy conditions.

But Hutton hit back with an unconverted try and drove hard at the home side with great tenacity.

But Blackburn made sure of victory when Radice and Miller combined to feed Barnes who used his pace to break a tackle and score in the corner.
