BURNLEY head coach Phil Leck hasn't ruled out winning the league title after watching his side come through a scrappy encounter against Bolton.

The Holden Road outfit are on a fantastic run of form, and two second half penalties from full-back Richard Griffiths took their unbeaten record to 17 straight matches.

The win was made all the more sweet as Burnley were missing a number of first team players, something they paid a heavy price for in the early part of the season.

Leck said: "We had 10 first choice players out so it's a big credit to the lads who turned out because that was a potential banana skin.

"We've been working hard for the past three years to create a squad of 30 players for the first team and they're all doing really well now."

Burnley, who are just four points behind leaders Heaton Moor, are being chased by Eccles in the race for the play-off position, and they just happen to be the visitors this weekend.

But with five games to go and Moor also set to travel to Holden Road on the final fixture of the season, Leck is clinging to the hope of toppling them to title.

He added: "We're getting good numbers at training every week and everybody is really enthusiastic. Really we're fighting for the play-offs.

"We're doing well, we've just got to keep it going and, if they slip up, we could nick it.

"I don't think the club has ever been on a run like this."
