YOUNG rivals from Rossendale and Colne and Nelson played our a real cracker, sharing nine tries and scoring more than 60 points between them.

In a real see-saw battle, home team Colne opened the scoring with a fine breakaway try.

But Dale hit back and following a period of sustained forward pressure, Jordan Fortune drove over for Dale’s first try which was converted by PJ Butler.

But back came their hosts with two converted tries to go 21-7 up, a lead cut down to just seven by the break thanks to a try by Max Lyth, with Butler adding the extras. There was no let up after the break and the teams were level thanks to a touch-down by Niall Milligan, following a drive from a line-out.

Butler’s kicked levelled the score.

But a classy Colne side scored two more tries to open up what would be a winning scored.

Dale scored a fourth try, Isaac Cornwall overloading to Tom Unsworth which Butler converted.
