Burnley 27 St Edwards OB 8
STEVE Kent is taking Burnley forward after converting from backs to pack.
The 19-year-old has been a revelation since moving from full back to number eight - culminating with two tries in an all-action display in the victory over St Edwards.
Coach Getty Schinkel was delighted with the victory and Kent’s display in particular.
“I’ve worked with Steve since he was 14-years-old and he has played all of his rugby at full back,” said Schinkel.
“But I decided to throw him in at eight to see how he got on and he has done a great job for us there this season.
“He looks well suited to the new position and I am delighted for him to get his two tries.”
Schinkel was thrilled to see his side secure back to back wins.
“I honestly can’t remem-ber the last time we won two games on the bounce but I know it was a long time ago.
“But that is down to the lads working hard in training and, more impo-rtantly, taking what they have learnt on to the pitch. I said in the past the onus is on the lads to pick the ball up and do some-thing with it, to lead the way. Now some of them are beginning to do that.”
Outside half Simon Finnan and centre Danny Campbell also crossed for tries with Richard Griffiths kicking two conversions and adding a penalty.
On Saturday, they travel to Ashton-under-Lyme.
“They are a big powerful side so this is another test for us,” added Schinkel. “If we want to go up, these are the games we need to win.”
