BLACKBURN took on rock bottom St Benedicts and the class showed as the leaders cruised to a 10-try victory.

The dynamic Ferde Naude burst through to open the scoring before Paul Millea added a second try - both of which were converted by skipper Paul Bleasdale.

Jordan Pearson then scored a hat-trick of tries - one of which was converted by Bleasdale who also added a penalty - before the impressive Lambert stole over after quick ruck ball opened up the visiting defence.

After the break, Bleasdale darted over from close range then centre Richard Maudsley crashed over to score.

Replacements Dino Radice and Stuart Jarrold combined to send the latter in for the home sides ninth try before a flowing move allowed winger Matthew Pickles to cruise over for a tenth try five minutes from time.

Blackburn will have a much sterner test on Saturday when they host Wigton in the EDF Senior Vase (ko 1.45pm).

Chairman of Rugby, Gareth Dyer said: "We have a big game in the EDF Senior Vase against a strong Wigton side who will be keen to keep their season alive after a few stumbles in the league.

"We have plenty to work on in training this week but it's pleasing that the players themselves were disappointed with the display even though they scored over 60 points.

"It shows the lads determination to improve and get better and with that commitment to each other it makes training that much more intense and ensures we keep driving each other on".
