PENDLE Phoenix ran riot as they hit the century mark with a 16-try blitz against Carnforth – a side they had only beaten 29-10 a few weeks earlier.

Liam Canning crossed for four tries while Andy Dutton finished with a personal haul of 26 points after he converted 13 of the 16 tries.

It was one-way traffic from the moment James Finucane crossed for the opening try of the game after just five minutes.

Canning latched on to Dutton’s excellent crossfield kick to score his first try of the afternoon before two tries from Rob Lawless, split by another for Nick Martin, saw Phoenix open up a 33-0 lead.

Pendle have been guilty of switching off in the past but continued to turn the screw and hit the half century mark before the break as Shaye McCullough, Sonny Waddington and Canning all scored tries with Finucane intercepting a pass for his second of the match.

After the break, Pendle continued to rack up the points. Waddington grabbed his second before Danny Rowland, Sterling Ross, Craig Wiseman got in on the try-scoring act while Canning completed his hat-trick.

All the time, Dutton proved to be in lethal form with the boot to take Pendle to within eight points of the magical century mark.

With time running out, the final clocked 100 points thanks to tries from Shawn Moss and Canning – both converted by Dutton – to complete a one-sided and memorable victory.
