WITH just three games remaining, Colne and Nelson RUFC are celebrating one of the most successful seasons in a number of years.

The All Blacks, under the coaching and leadership of Ian Cockcroft and John Hargreaves, are on course for a top five finish in North Lancs Two – a long way from the team that struggled to get a full side out just a few years ago.

Nowadays, Colne and Nelson have three senior sides and the future looks bright at the Holt House club thanks to the committed coaches and volunteer staff.

The club’s Colts side is growing stronger and stronger and has made it through to the semi- final of the Lancashire Plate and are hoping to progress onto the final.

This new youthful side have come on leaps and bounds and Colne are hoping to carry these players into their senior section.

Like Burnley RUFC, Colne and Nelson also has a community coach in Callum Kinnane whose recruitment efforts has made sure the junior section is now thriving with an aim to have a team at every age group ready for pre-season training – as well as a full girl’s side.

The club will run its touch rugby league again in May and June.

Colne and Nelson is also interested in hearing from anyone interested in taking up coaching or volunteering to contact coach Ian Cockcroft on 07590 818341.
