Williams is confident about progress

EDENFIELD handballer Ciaran Williams believes Team GB can move forward despite suffering defeat in their opening game in London.
Williams was part of the first team to take to the Olympic court on Saturday for the toughest test of all against reigning World and Olympic champions France.
They were beaten but despite the result, there was no dampening Williams’ mood as he made handball history in the capital, and he can’t wait for tonight’s second game against Sweden.
“Just walking out in front of that crowd gave me Goosebumps and I nearly had a tear in my eye it was so good,” he said.
“I saw my family sitting there and nearly started going but all 5,000 fans packed into the arena were amazing and it is just such an honour to be a part of such an historic occasion.
“Yes the result wasn’t what we had hoped for and we would have liked to have been a bit closer but France are a once in a lifetime team and to go up against special players was amazing.
“There were obviously some nerves but we have got the first game out of the way now and hopefully we can build on this and keep moving forward.”
