BLACKBURN Hawks have re-signed Finnish star Kim Miettinen.

The defenceman has signed for the Hawks having left Telford Tigers and will be available for this weekend's double header.

Steve Duncombe's side have lost their last seven matches in all competitions to slip down the table and face an away tip to Solway Sharks on Saturday in the cup before visiting Billingham Stars in the league on Sunday.

And skipper Ollie Lomax is hoping the signing of Miettinen, who won the league and play-off title in his previous spell in Blackburn, can be the catalyst for a change in results.

He said: "He is up there with the top imports in this league and has won trophies wherever he has been.

"He can be a big player for us, he knows the lads and knows what the club is all about and it will be great to see him on the ice for us again."

Miettinen added: "I’m delighted to be returning back to Blackburn where I had a great time winning the league and play off double in 2016/17 season.

"I can’t wait to pull on the number 47 jersey and play in front of such a great fans again and I’m sure we will have a great season.

“I know Duncs’ and most of the guys already and I think that I will be a good fit in the locker room and help Duncs’ and the team compete at the right end of the table.”

And head coach Duncombe hopes the experience of the Finn can guide his side up the table.

“I’m really happy to finally get Kim back to Blackburn," said Duncombe.

"He’s a perfect fit and will add quality and experience to the team.

"He’s won both trophies with Blackburn and Solway so he’s a player who knows how to win.

"I’m looking forward to working with him for the reminder of the season."
