DARWEN will face Church in the Worsley Cup final later this month after both side's came through battling semi-final matches.

Lancashire League leaders Darwen overcame Ramsbottom by 34 runs in their last four tie at Birch Hall.

Calvin Savage was the key man for the home side as he hit 75 off just 57 balls to help the hosts post 212-9 from their 50 overs.

Jonathan Fielding was the pick of the Rammy bowlers as he collected 3-41 including the key wicket of Lancashire ace Alex Davies for 14.

The visitors were quickly in trouble in reply as they slipped to 14-2 but 61 from professional Grant Thompson helped them back into the contest.

But when he was the sixth man out with the score on 148 the game tilted in Darwen’s favour and they bowled out the visitors for 178 off 45.5 overs with John Cordingley picking up 3-25.

Church defeated Accrington by 40 runs at Blackburn Road.

The home side were bowled out for 144 off 49 overs with Craig Fergusson top scoring with 34.

He was well supported by Bilal Abbas (29) and Francis Kinsella (27) as the hosts recovered from 13-2.

David Ormerod took 4-18 from 10 overs for Accrington while Michael Erlank chipped in with three wickets.

But no Accrington batsman made more than 20 in reply as they were bowled out for 104 off 43.3 overs.

Jacob Clarke top scored with a gritty 20 but only three others managed double figures as Church contained the reply.

Professional Zain Abbas finished with 3-12 off eight overs including the wicket of Clarke while Bilal Abbas took 3-20.

The final takes place on Sunday, August 6.
