BRADY Barends produced a fine all-round performance as Padiham sealed victory over higher league opponents Read.

The Padiham professional smacked an impressive 90 - including six sixes - at the Arbories Memorial Sports Ground then took three vital wickets as the Section B side picked up an impressive early season scalp.

Neil Hornbuckle was also in form as he scored a superb 122 as Section A new boys Salesbury beat Feniscowles by 173 runs.

The Salesbury professional and Brandon Faber put on a fine stand of 156 for the opening wicket with Faber scoring 61.

Captain Chris Riley (26) and Peter Richardson (45) both contributed to Salesbury’s 308-5 total.

In reply, Feniscowles were dismissed for 135, Jake Errey top scoring with 38.

Settle underlined their Section A title credentials with a routine win at Earby. The hosts were dismissed for 92 with Simon Tarbox finishing with figures of 6-19.

In reply, Settle did make life tough for themselves but reached their target for the loss of five wickets with Sadrian Ward scoring 41.

Section A side Oswaldtwistle Immanuel sealed a narrow victory at Section B Ribblesdale Wanderers.

Batting first, the visitors were bowled out for 174. Merennage Fernando top scored with 60 while Bernard Vorster took 4-25.

In reply, Wanderers fell just three runs short of their target, with Ryan Canning (54) and Vorster (49no) both among the runs.

Stuart Crabtree top scored with 62 as Whalley posted 196-9 on their way to victory at Cherry Tree with Martin Davies (28) and Mark Fallon (27) both contributing.

Despite the efforts of Jake Willacy (32) and Nas Iqbal (31), Cherry Tree were bowled out for 151 in reply.

Barnoldswick beat Brinscall by two wickets at School Lane.

Batting first, Brinscall were dismissed for 119 , Phil Lowe scoring 38, while an unbeaten 43 from Nabeel Ahmed guided Barnoldswick to victory.

And Jonny Riekert scored 58 as Euxton won at Baxenden.
