CLITHEROE stunned National League North leaders AFC Fylde to book a Lancashire Challenge Trophy semi-final date with Radcliffe Borough.

Simon Haworth's side were 2-1 winners at Shawbridge on Tuesday night thanks to a Kurt Willoughby brace.

Although Fylde pulled a goal back through former Chorley striker Darren Stephenson's 65th penalty the Blues were full value for their victory.

They now face a last four clash with Evo-Stik League Division One North rivals Radcliffe on Tuesday, February 28 (7.45pm) at the County Ground in Leyland.

Chorley face Ashton Athletic in the other semi-final on Tuesday, February, 21.

Clitheroe dominated the first half against the Coasters with Willoughby driving home a free kick to give the hosts a 12th minute lead.

Willoughby doubled his and Clitheroe's tally with a neat finish from Alex Newby's cross only for Stephenson to halve the deficit from the spot three minutes later after the striker was felled by Danny Brady.

The visitors piled on the pressure in the closing stages but could not force extra time as the Blues held out for a famous win.

Clitheroe are back in league action on Boxing Day when they entertain Colne.
