CLAYTON-LE-MOORS Harriers ace Dan Balshaw blazed to victory in the Burnley Fire 10k.

The 29-year-old proved too hot to trot as he took the title in 35 minutes and 43 seconds.

His closest competitor, Barlick Fell Runners’ Andrew Carson, was nearly two minutes back in second (37mins 41secs).

The rest of the top five comprised Accrington Road Runners’ Chris Halstead (37mins 52secs), the unattached William Hardman (38mins 4secs), and Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Jonathan Pye who finished in fifth place in 38mins 32secs.

Darwen Dashers’ Brian Morris, was the fastest M50 and sixth overall in 38mins 55secs, and he was followed by Clayton-le-Moors Harriers duo Matthew Duckworth, who was seventh in 38mins 58secs, and fastest M55 Paul Brannon, who was ninth in 39mins 13secs.

Trawden AC’s Adam Howard was sandwiched in between the pair in eighth with a time of 38mins 59secs.

His younger sister and clubmate, Autumn Howard, was the fastest female and 16th overall in 41mins 37secs, with her closest competitors being Kim Kennedy, who was 27th overall in 42mins 55secs, and Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Tracy Mitchell, who was 35th overall and the fastest F40 in 43mins 39secs.

The other female age category prizes went to Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Amanda Duffy (fastest F35 and 64th overall in 46mins 38secs), Helen Garth (fastest F45 and 71st overall in 47mins 26secs), Trawden AC’s Gillian Greenwood (fastest F50 and 147th overall in 56mins 31secs), Sheila Shackleton (fastest F55 and 183rd overall in 1hr 2mins) and Jennifer Adams (fastest F60 and 176th overall in 1hr 25secs).

The other male age category prizes went to Lancaster & Morecambe AC’s William Howard (fastest junior and 10th overall in 39mins 34secs), Accrington Road Runners’ Martin King (fastest M40 and 11th overall in 39mins 40secs), David Cooper (fastest M45 and 14th overall in 41mins 8secs), Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Stephen Biscomb (fastest M60 and 34th overall in 43mins 29secs) and Barlick Fell Runners’ Peter Wilkinson (fastest M65 and 96th overall in 49mins 40secs).
