IT was a family affair as Trawden Athletic Club tackled the Wigan 10k.

Twenty-five runners from the club, including Wigan Phoenix AAC affiliate member Leo Anson, raced over the 6.1-mile distance with three members of the same family celebrating success.

Adam Howard was the first Trawden runner over the line in 37 minutes and 54 seconds while his sister Autumn Howard finished sixth lady with a personal best time of 39mins 36secs.

Dad David Howard picked up a first in his age category, 55-59, in a time of 42mins 17secs, receiving congratulations from 800m World Championship medallist Jenny Meadows.

Meanwhile a Blackburn Harriers trio are celebrating victories.

Shaun Livesey was the emphatic winner of the Great Langdale Marathon in three hours, nine minutes and 28 seconds.

Livesey said: “I checked over my shoulder as I approached the finish and tucked my vest in (to look smart) and was greeted by my family and friends.

“I was chuffed to bits to have bagged a marathon win and to do it on such a tough course.”

Ben Fish was also toasting a triumph as he won the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon in 67mins 54secs after a close battle with Stockport Harriers’ Andrew Davies.

Fish said: “It was an interesting battle. Andrew Davies was racing at marathon pace, so I decided my best option was to go out hard and hang on.

“A bit of a scrappy run but got the job done.”

Helen Leigh, meanwhile, continued her superb form by finishing as the fastest woman, and 12th overall, at the Helensburgh AC Hel n’ Back race in 57mins 54secs.

Leigh had previously won the C2C event over four days and followed that up by passing the post as the seventh fastest woman in the Ben Nevis Race.
