BEN Fish led the way for Blackburn Harriers in the latest race in the Podium 5k Series, in Barrowford.

Just 10 secs separated the top-five finishers in the A race, with Fish claiming third spot in 15 mins 3 secs.

Tim Raynes set another personal-best time over the distance when passing the post in tenth spot with 15 mins 57 secs.

And Paul Bradshaw was not far behind in 19th, with 16 mins 44 secs.

Laura Hesketh, who runs for the Harriers on the track, was 12th overall and the second woman home in the B race in 18 mins 41 secs, just 6 secs off winner Lucy Collins.

Jack Hindle continued his preparations for the World Mountain Running Championship Trials by finishing second at the Darwen Gala Race in 32 mins 25 secs.

Highland Hill Runners ace Ross Campbell was the winner in 30 mins 30 secs. A pair of Hindle’s Blackburn Harriers clubmates, new member Carly Edwards and sportshall coach Ben Armstrong, followed up in 60th (44 mins 41 secs) and 71st (45 mins 23 secs) respectively.

Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Paul Thompson was the fastest M40 and seventh overall, recording 35 mins 33 secs.

Chorley Athletic & Triathlon Club’s Mark Ellithorn was the second-fastest M50 and 12th overall in 36 mins 12 secs.

Blackburn Harriers starlet Joe Monk finished fourth overall and was the first junior male in a time of 16 mins 26 secs at the Catforth 5k.

The club’s Evan Cook was also in action as he won the M60 age category at the third fixture in the midweek Haigh Hall Races.

He placed 29th out of 100 runners, posting a time of 27 mins 3 secs.

Also having a run-out was M50 David Morris, who crossed the line in 36 mins 44 secs for 95th position.
