CHRISTOPHER Holdsworth continued his fantastic form with an emphatic victory in Sunday’s Trawden 7 Trail Race.

The Clayton-le-Moors Harriers star, who had won the Pennine Lancashire 10k one week earlier, powered to top spot in 41 minutes and 26 seconds.

That was nearly a minute faster than runner-up Marc Hartley in 42mins 25secs.

Hartley’s clubmates Thomas Corrigan and Julian Hood followed up in third (42mins 31secs) and fourth (42mins 35secs) respectively, ensuring Barlick Fell Runners took the men’s team title.

Next were Blackburn Harriers’ Andy Buttery (fastest M45 and fifth in 42mins 59secs), Clayton-le-Moors Harriers trio Breton Holdsworth (fastest M40 and sixth in 44mins 42secs) and Andrew Stubbs (seventh in 45mins 1sec).

Rounding out the top 10 for Jordan McDonald (fastest MU18 and eighth in 45mins 49secs), Trawden AC’s Dale Grimshaw (ninth in 45mins 54secs), and Pendle Triathlon Club’s David Mirfield (10th in 46mins 6secs).

Darwen Dashers’ Joanne Nelson was the fastest female, and therefore fastest F40, in 24th overall in 49mins 3secs, followed by Barlick Fell Runners’ Lorraine Salter (fastest F45 and 43rd overall in 52mins 3secs) and Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Claire Vincent (45th overall in 52mins 34secs).

Thanks to the efforts of Slater as well Jen Hird (58th overall in 53mins 45secs) and Angela Donlan (76th overall in 56mins 8secs), Barlick Fell Runners also claimed the ladies’ team prize.

The other male age group prizes went to Accrington Road Runners’ Glen Goodwin (fastest M50 and 18th overall in 47mins 47secs), Hyndburn AC’s Peter Sagar (fastest M55 and 44th overall in 52mins 19secs), Rossendale Harriers’ Andrew Corbishley (fastest M60 and 59th overall in 53mins 50secs), and Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Pete Booth (fastest M65 and 72nd overall in 55mins 45secs) and David Scott (fastest M70 and 116th overall in 1 hour 1min 26secs).

Accrington Road Runners’ Lisa Parker (fastest F35 and 81st overall in 56mins 34secs) and Andrea Hough (fastest F50 in 107th overall in 1hr 8secs) picked up female age group prizes along with Barlick Fell Runners’ Jean Rawlinson (fastest F60 and 138th overall in 1hr 5mins 44secs) and Trawden AC’s Jean Baistow (fastest F65 and 158th overall in 1hr 11mins 5secs).
