BEN Fish led a Blackburn Harriers 1-2-3 in Sunday’s Winter Warmer 10k.

Fish won Blackburn’s only 10k race as he crossed the finishing line at Witton Park in 33 minutes and eight seconds - more than a minute faster than clubmate Matt Nuttall, who was second overall and the fastest M45 in 34 mins 34secs.

Triathlete Brian Fogarty was third past the post in the sell-out event in 35mins 26secs.

Completing the top five were Salford Harriers’ John Lloyd (fourth in 35mins 31secs) and Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Thomas Brewster (fifth in 35mins 32secs).

The unattached Lee Parrington was sixth in 35mins 35secs and Trawden AC’s Nick Gaskell seventh in 35mins 51secs, a time that made him the fastest M40. Following up were Eden Runners’ Jonathan Cox (eighth in 36mins 8secs), Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Jake Watson (ninth in 36mins 53secs) and Burden Road Runners’ Philip Eccleston (10th in 37mins 1sec).

Also making the top 20 were Blackburn Harriers’ Christopher Davies (11th in 37mins 9secs) and David Almond (14th in 37mins 59secs), Accrington Road Runners’ Graham Morris (fastest M50 and 13th overall in 37mins 38secs), Burnley AC’s Daniel Balshaw (15th in 38mins 28secs), Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Jordan McDonald (fastest junior male and 16th overall in 38mins 33secs), Chorley Athletic and Triathlon Club’s Robert Walsh (18th in 38mins 59secs), and Darwen Dashers’ Jonny Bromilow (20th in 39mins 10secs).

Male age group prizes also went to Blackburn Harriers’ Evan Cook (fastest M60 and 44th overall in 41mins 51secs) and Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ David Scott (fastest M70 and 166th overall in 48mins 43secs).

Jason Rippingale spearheaded the charge for organisers Blackburn Road Runners, finishing 42nd in 41mins 49secs.

Preston Harriers’ Philipa Walsh was the fastest female and the F50 winner in 45th overall in 41mins 53secs.

Female age group prizes also went to Accrington Road Runners’ Catherine Derbyshire (fastest F35 and 131st overall in 46mins 39secs) and Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Irene Roche (fastest M55 and 149th overall in 47mins 48secs).

Tom Grundy won the 2k junior race that preceded the main event in a time of 7mins 12secs.
