CHORLEY light welterweight Jack Catterall, above, will fight for the European title in only his 10th professional bout when he takes on former Olympian Tom Stalker on October 25.
Catterall has impressed in nine consecutive victories since turning professional, earning a promotional deal with Frank Warren, and the 21-year-old will now face Stalker at Liverpool’s Echo Arena this month.
Stalker captained the Great Britain boxing team at the 2012 Olympics but was beaten in the quarter finals.
The Liverpudlian was due to take on Chris Jenkins in a British title eliminator but his opponent’s withdrawal has seen Catterall step in to fight for the WBO European title instead.
The bout is scheduled for 12 rounds but Catterall has never fought beyond eight.
His last fight was scheduled for 10 rounds but he knocked out Nathan Brough inside two to win the Central Area light welterweight title.
