HANDS OFF: Rossendale's Dene Whittall-Williams shrugs off a Bamber Bridge challenge

ROSSENDALE got their just rewards after a very disappointing display at home to Bamber Bridge in UniBond Division One.

The Stags managed to beat Brig 4-2 at Irongate last month with a gritty performance, but it was a totally different story at Dark Lane.

Derek Egan's men were under the cosh for most periods, and were left thanking goalkeeper Lee Bracey for keeping them in the game in the first-half.

But after Bracey kept out several chances, Tom Ince gave Brig the lead on 37 minutes.

It stayed that way until half-time and, remarkably, Rossy got themselves level three minutes after the break.

Down the right, Tom Williams sent over a cross which Martin Crowder thundered into his own net at the back post.

However, Brig stormed back at the home side and re-took the lead on 55 minutes through Ince again.

A rocket 20-yard drive from Danny Mahoney put Brig 3-1 up.

And the visitors wrapped up the points with Sean O'Neil and Steve Williams on the mark.
