The Rams saw off a spirited challenge from their second division opponents in the second round of the Vodkat League Cup.
And after last Tuesday evenings events surrounding Brendon O'Shaughnessey and his bizarre sending off against Ashton Athletic, it was no surprise that the Rams midfielder was once again the one player that all the spectators where talking about - fortunately for all the positive reasons after a tremendous man-of-the-match display.
The first chance of the game fell to newly crowned Anthony Johnson, but his shot from 25 yards out was easily caught by the visiting keeper.
The second-half saw the Rams dominate and eventually take the lead. O'Shaughnessey broke up a Kirkham move and played a delicate cross to new signing Ryan Moore.
Moore progressed towards goal and teed up Anthony Johson for a low finish.
The Rams scored their second of the game after a cross was delivered to the left hand post where Dave Hanlon popped up to neatly head the ball over the arms of the keeper and into the back of the net.
