It proved to be another frustrating afternoon for Padiham.
The game, however, was marred by an injury to Ashton's 20-year-old forward Jonathan Bullough who suffered a broken leg on 55 minutes.
This delayed the game for half an hour and on the re-start, Ashton took the lead when Danny Smith caught the Padiham defence by surprise with a 30-yard effort that sailed into the Storks net.

Padiham pushed forward for the equaliser and should have levelled on 65 minutes when Stuart Telfer gave the perfect pass for Neil Almond, who missed a sitter by blasting over from 10 yards out.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, Padiham are at home to FA Vase quarter-finalists Kirkham & Wesham, kick-off 7.45pm at the Arbories.
