A FULL-blooded local derby filled with incident finished with honours even at Victoria Park.
Scott Gizon missed a great chance to put Colne in front when he shot wide after 15 minutes.
And it was Nelson who took the lead just before half-time when Paul Posteraro was brought down by Colne goalkeeper Mark Crossley and Dennis Hill converted the penalty kick.

Seven minutes after the interval, Nelson doubled their lead when Hill's throughball drew Crossley off his line and Posteraro forced the ball past the keeper and into the net.
The Blues should have had a third goal minutes later but Martin Payne chose to shoot wildly over with Ed O'Neil at the far post.
Colne surged back into the game with two goals in two minutes on the hour.
Liam Garbutt reduced the arrears with a superb header from Gavin Cooper's cross.
Then Kevin Urwin grabbed Colne's equaliser after Garbutt opened up the Nelson defence with a penetrating solo run.
Colne mounted the pressure but Nelson goalkeeper Billy Carrington was injured in a goalmouth incident after 76 minutes which held up the game for 25 minutes.
Carrington was taken to hospital by ambulance with neck injuries but was later released.
Alex Mugan took over in goal for the remainder of the game and withstood some late frenzied attacking by the Colne forwards.
