    Congleton Town 1 Colne 3

COLNE produced an excellent performance to stretch their unbeaten run to nine games and record their best-ever league position since their inception in 1996.

As the game went on, Nigel Coates' side began to dominate the midfield areas, with Stevie Hall and Michael Cruz prompting the attacks of Jamie Longley and Liam Garbutt.

On 25 minutes, they were rewarded when Cruz hit a delightful ball from the right wing into the top corner.

In the second-half, it was not long before Colne increased their lead when Garbutt's clever turn and shot gave Town's keeper no chance and increased his tally to 20 goals for the season.

On 63 minutes, the result was virtually sealed when Kieron Roberts sent Longley clear down the right and his pinpoint cross picked out Ted Cockett, who blasted home Colne's third.

Garbutt almost added a fourth when, after a poor clearance by Town, he reacted quickly and lobbed the ball over him only to see his shot bobble narrowly wide.

With minutes remaining, Congleton claimed some consolation when Banawich blasted the ball into the far top corner.
