TEN-MAN Clitheroe gave one of their best displays of the season to see off high-flying Curzon Ashton at Shawbridge.
A late goal from striker Danny Toronczak sealed a vital UniBond Division One (North) victory for the Blues, despite playing much of the second-half with 10 men due to John Osborne's sending off.
Driving rain and a strong wind into their faces made things difficult for Clitheroe's defence and a well-worked goal in the 20th minute gave Curzon the lead.
Striker Jorge Diaz claimed the goal for the visitors, the ball slipping from the grasp of Blues goalkeeper James Mann and squirming over the line.
Curzon, second in league, were untroubled for the vast majority of the half.
But Clitheroe's persistence paid off five minutes before half-time when striker Carl Lomax turned and drove a low left footed shot in from the edge of the penalty area.

Conditions remained difficult in the second-half, but Clitheroe continued to lay siege to the Ashton goal.
But Neil Reynolds' men were dealt a major blow when full-back Osborne was shown a red card for hacking down a Curzon player.
Despite being a man down, the home side pushed forward for a winner in front of a home crowd of 192.
Lomax saw a shot pushed wide and a low cross from Dave Hankin flashed across the face of goal, where any sort of touch would have been enough.
But Clitheroe eventually landed their winner in the 90th minutes.
An attempted back-pass from Curzon got stuck in the mud and Toronczak rounded keeper Jean Paul Ndjebayi before slotting home from a narrow angle.
It sealed a great comeback for the Blues, who climbed above local rivals Chorley into 14th position.
Clitheroe are back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Harrogate Railway Athletic.
