BACUP Borough are hoping to have Phil Melville back in goal after he missed Saturday's abandoned game against Atherton Collieries.

Brent Peters' side travel to face Division One title-chasers Salford City but there are question marks over the fitness of Steve Stott and Dave Luker.

The Bacup boss said: "We need to get these games played now because we have such a backlog.

"We have this situation again and again at Bacup but it's like banging your head against a brick wall with the league."

Ramsbottom United's re-arranged home fixture against neighbours Colne tonight is a major doubt due to poor playing conditions.

The Riverside pitch cut up in many places during United's 3-2 defeat to Formby last Saturday.

There was also areas of surface water in and around both goalmouth areas.

Ramsbottom officials now believe it will take a mammoth effort to get it ready for tonight's clash.

A pitch inspection is planned, but both sets of supporters have been advised to find out the latest developments on United's web-site.

If the game goes ahead, Colne will be looking to build on their confidence boosting 2-0 victory over Atherton LR.
