Corinna Lawrence crashed out in the last 32 of the women's epee
European fencing champion Simona Gherman proved too strong for Britain's Corinna Lawrence in the last 32 of the women's epee at the ExCeL.
The 22-year-old from Plymouth had beaten Chilean Caterin Bravo Aranguiz 15-12 in the first round, but lost 15-9 to a quality opponent ranked fourth in the world.
After three days of action the crowd has yet to see a home fencer reach the last 16, but main medal hope Richard Kruse goes in the men's foil on Tuesday along with James Davis and Husayn Rosowsky.
British judo pair Sarah Clark and Daniel Williams suffered defeats in their Monday morning bouts at ExCel.
Clark lost her first-round contest against Automne Pavia of France, who has lost just three times this year, on golden score in the women's judo under-57kgs at ExCeL.
Meanwhile Williams, who had been handed a bye into the second round, exited at the hands of 2008 Beijing Olympic bronze medallist Rasul Boqiev of Tajikistan in the men's under -73kgs category.
Paul Drinkhall could not repeat Sunday's heroics as he was knocked out of the table tennis singles at the London 2012 Olympics by Germany's world number 12 Dimitrij Ovtcharov.
Drinkhall could not take the extra step up in class and the German cruised to an 11-8, 11-5, 11-9, 11-4 straight games win
British marksman James Huckle missed out on a place in the Olympic final in the 10m air rifle as his final total of 593 out of 600 was not enough to secure a top-eight finish.
He was eventually placed 24th, while the qualification round was won by Italy's Niccolo Campriani, the world number one.
