BILLINGTON bike racer Phil Blackmore had a weekend to remember after scoring four top ten finishes at the opening round of the Derby Phoenix Championship.
Blackmore, who rides a Suzuki GSXR 1000, is contesting both the Allcomers and the 750cc-1000cc classes in the nine-round series.
And he even led two of the races, only conceding the advantage when out-gunned by riders on more powerful machinery.

"It was a great start to the championship, and an enormous confidence booster," said Blackmore, who finished second overall in the novice class last year.
"After qualifying 15th out of ninety riders in the Allcomers, I knew we could be on for a good result, and that's just how it turned out."
Finishing eighth and seventh in his first two races, Blackmore got off to a storming start in the Allcomers second heat, snatching the lead going into the first corner.
He managed to fend off the rest of the field for three laps before being tagged on the penultimate lap by another rider and dropping to fifth.
It was a repeat performance for the 750cc-1000cc race, again leading the field at the first turn.
"I couldn't believe it when it happened again, but the adrenaline rush made me miss the hairpin and I overshot the corner!" said Blackmore.
Despite the error, Blackmore soon recovered to finish sixth, and as a result, he now lies fifth overall in the Allcomers and seventh overall in the 750cc-1000cc class.
"It's been my best weekend of racing, and I'm just keeping my fingers crossed the run of form continues," he added.
Blackmore's next race is at Croft on April 12-13.
