OULTON Park, the North West's premier racing circuit, is helping to celebrate several golden anniversaries this season, including 50 years of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship.

As the circuit launched its season, Jonathan Palmer, chief executive of owners MotorSport Vision, said: "This is a very exciting year for Oulton Park, with golden celebrations for British Touring Cars, the Vintage Sports-Car Festival and Lola at the Gold Cup.

"MotorSport Vision has also taken over the commercial and organisational rights for the British Superbike Championship 2008, so I'm looking forward to BSB visiting Oulton Park twice, especially as the circuit seems to encourage close finishes."

2008 is also Lola's fiftieth anniversary and the car manufacturer will celebrate at this year's Oulton Park Gold Cup with a trophy and parade of Lola cars from 1958 to the present day.

This year's Vintage Sports-Car Festival will feature the Mike Hawthorn Memorial Trophies, commemorating 50 years since Hawthorn became Britain's first Formula 1 World Champion.

The first major event of the 2007 season at Oulton Park will be the British Formula 3 and GT Championships, which visit the Cheshire circuit on 22/24 March.

Oulton Park 2008 calendar: March 22-24 - Formula 3 / British GT.

May 3-5 - British Superbike Championship.

May 26 - Club car championships featuring MSA British Superkart Championships.

June 14 - Vintage Sports-Car Festival.

July 18-20 - British Superbike Championship.

July 26/27 - British Touring Car Champion
