Worswick helps Amy in drive to success

FRESH from his stunning performance on the Legend Fires North West Stages, Nigel Worswick is back in action on Sunday with a new car and a new co-driver.

The Blackburn driver was in fine form for last month's multi-venue rally, clocking top three stage times in his Ford Escort WRC - despite only running as course car!

This weekend sees Worswick con-testing the Roskirk Stages in a Ford Escort Mk2 with teenager Amy Cadman on the maps.

Amy, who is a university student, and based in Oldham, is making her debut as a rally navigator after meeting up with Worswick and his co-driver Clive Molyneux on last year's Tour of Mull.

"We met Amy during the event and it was soon apparent she was mad keen on rallying and desperate to get started in the sport," explained Nigel.

"Rallying needs fresh blood and we were happy to help Amy get her competition licence and show her the basics of navigation. She's taken to it brilliantly, and this weekend's event seemed perfect as a first event."

Seeded at car three, the pair will be in Worswick's newly-aquired Escort Mk2, which boasts a 2.3 litre Cosworth engine, six-speed dog box and Monte Carlo brakes!

The popular Blackpool South Shore-organised event features a host of East Lancashire entries, including: Richard Banks/Phil Peak (Subaru Impreza); James Howard/Charlie Woodward (Subaru Impreza); Pete Tattersall/Stephen Riley (Ford Escort); Michael Tomlinson/Jonathan Dixon (Ford Puma); Steven Butler/Heather Johnson (Nissan Micra).

This year's event will follow a similar format to previous years, with 12 stages covering approximately 26 stage miles, starting around 9am at the Three Sisters circuit, Ashton-in-Makerfield.

Spectators are welcome and an admission fee will be charged.
