MELLOR Brook’s John Holden took 14th position in the final race of the British Formula One Sidecar Championship at the weekend.

Holden teamed up with Stoke-based passenger Andy Winkle at Brands Hatch for the last round of the championship.

The duo qualified in 15th position but were forced to retire from the first race of the weekend after developing a brake fault.

They finished 14th in the second race, though, and 18th overall in the standings for 2012 – despite competing in only five of the nine rounds.

Holden had an injury lay-off after suffering a broken pelvis, broken collar bone and broken ribs during a crash at the Isle of Man TT event in June.

But he plans to return to the Isle of Man next year and also intends to continue in the British Formula One Sidecar Championship.
