BURNLEY team FPW Racing will be in the Netherlands this weekend as the British Motostar Championship goes international – but Worsthorne’s Harry Hartley will miss the race.

A round at Assen – a track that hosts a MotoGP race each year – has been added to the calendar of the British Superbike Championship this year and FPW will make the trip to take part in the Motostar Championship, which is one of the support series.

The East Lancashire team are closing in on the title thanks to the performances of rider Luke Hedger, who leads by 42 points with three races to go. He could potentially clinch the championship this weekend.

“Going to Assen, knowing the flowing nature of the circuit, I know we’ll be there or thereabouts,” said team boss Adrian Mason.

Hartley is also involved in the series, 11th overall and fourth in the cup section for young riders, but the 15-year-old and Team Symitry will not be travelling.

“It’s five days away from home and a lot of money, so unfortunately he’s missing this one,” said father Barry. “He’s still hoping to be in the top three in the cup this season.

“The only problem is he’s getting too big for the 125cc bikes because he’s tall and well built. He’s looking at the 600cc for next year. He has a couple of offers on the table.”
