Tough time for Carne

HASLINGDEN rider Tom Carne had to wait for news on his father’s recovery from a heart attack before claiming his first front row start in the Motostar British Championship.
Carne, 18, qualified fourth for Team Repli-Cast and even took the lead on the first corner at Oulton Park before technical problems saw him finish in ninth position.
“Before I arrived at Oulton I had to make sure my dad was okay after his heart attack,” Carne said.
“Only then could I focus fully.
“I made an excellent start but then one by one they passed me as the bike was down on power.”
