GREAT Harwood sidecar racer Dave Holden is already surging clear at the top of the Wirral 100 Motor Club Championship after taking his win tally for the season to five at the weekend.
The 64-year-old is incredibly in his 34th season in the sport and won two races at the second meeting of the season at Oulton Park, with the aid of passenger Heath Fairbrother.
That built on victory in three races in the first round at Anglesey, while Holden also won his class at the separate Hoghton Tower Sprint last month.
“I won both races and I’m well clear in the championship now, I think I’m 25 points ahead,” Holden said of his weekend triumphs.
“It took time last year to get the confidence but the bike’s right now.
“A week on Saturday I’ve got the first race of the Ace of Aintree Championship and I’ve won that 11 times so I want to make it 12 this year.”
