WORSTHORNE'S Eric Higson was happy with his performance in his first ever motorcycle race on Sunday – even though he was disappointed to miss out on a podium place by just 15 thousandths of a second.
Higson, who at the age of 47 was fulfilling an ambition by racing for the first time, started 32nd out of 39 on the grid for the Formula 600 Rookie Challenge at Anglesey.
He finished 15th, 15th and 12th in the three races before taking part in the senior open event, where he took fourth place but marginally missed out on third.
“It was a great day and I was happy with how it went, although I was gutted to miss out on a trophy after being so close,” Higson said.
Also making his racing debut was Fence’s Keith Cotterill, 41, who finished 20th, 17th and 15th in the three races before taking 10th place in the senior open event.
