Motorsport in brief - December 22

AUTOSOLO: Entries are being accepted for the Knutsford and District Motor Club’s New Year Autosolo and Production Car Autotest on Sunday, January 22.

The event will take place at Demon Tweeks in Wrexham and entry forms are available on the ANWCC website at www.anwcc.org.

FORMULA 1: Karun Chandhok has accepted defeat in his search for a 2012 race seat, admitting he is ready to continue as a test driver.

The 27-year-old Indian driver acted as Team Lotus’ test and reserve driver in 2011, but Williams and HRT are now the only teams with drives still available for next year.

RALLY: Mini this week missed the deadline to sign up for next year’s World Rally Championship.

Entries closed on Monday night and officials from the team are now seeking a possible extension.

FORMULA 1: Adrian Sutil’s manager insists the German is confident that he will remain in Formula One next season.

The 28-year-old is without a race seat for the 2012 campaign after Force India signed Nico Hulkenberg.
