GLENN Lord has closed the gap on the leaders of the Warton Stock Car Championship with a 24-point haul from last weekend’s Vale of Lune meeting.
The Great Harwood-based former champion was on the pace right from the start, with two fourth places from the heats.
The feature final saw a three-way battle with Lord, Ian Barton and Stephen Hoggarth all looking for the win.
“It was dry warm and windy, which allowed for some fast slick racing, although I just made one tiny mistake and that was enough to let Hoggarth through to second,” admitted Lord.
In the Grand National, championship leader Barton jumped the starting gun and a restart was ordered by the race officials.
Although Barton made a good start on the re-run, a rear wheel protector broke free and he was black-flagged, leaving Hoggarth to take maximum points ahead of rookie Martin Chadwick and Lord in third.
