ACCRINGTON Motorsport Club have declared their first ever grass autotest a ‘huge success’ at Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.

Visitors to the two-day Cheshire festival were able to compete over two laps of a specially-laid out grass course in either their own car, or Formula 1000 rally car.

“We had 15 cars in action over the two days and it was phenomenal,” said clerk-of-the course Steve Johnson.

“In effect, it was laid out like a special stage on grass, with everyone timed against the clock.”

“We didn’t quite know how good it would be, but we’ve had such a good feedback that we are planning to repeat the autotest at other motorsport events.”

Accrington MSC were joined by five other clubs, the CSMA North West, the F1000 Rally Club, Knutsford, Lancashire and Cheshire, and Liverpool MC who all helped marshal and run the autotest during the weekend.

There was also a ‘masterclass’ session for young rally drivers, hosted by James Wozencroft and British Touring Car star Tom Onslow-Cole.

l Accrington MSC would like to thank Red Cap Garage in Blackburn for their support.
