IT’S one of the most popular events on the classic calendar - and this year's Fellsman Tour was no exception.
Over 40 crews started the 2009 event, with cars ranging from a 1929 Bentley 4.5 Le Mans to a 1988 Austin Mini.
Organised by rallyman John Hartley and his team from the Lancashire Automobile Club, drivers were flagged away from the picturesque setting of Mytton Hall, Whalley.
Ahead of them was a 150-mile route taking in scenic roads through Slaidburn and the Yorkshire Dales before a lunch halt at Ingleton, the afternoon leg culminated in a run down the technically demanding Trough Road before finishing back at Mytton Hall.
“The Fellsman is not a competitive event. It runs as an authorised Touring Assembly and is designed for maximum enjoyment and a good days driving.
"It also tests map reading skills and a drivers patience with his navigator!” explained John.
