BARROWFORD co-driver Daniel Barritt is in Sweden this week for testing ahead of the next round of the World Rally Championship.

Barritt and Welsh driver Elfyn Evans are preparing for the Rally Sweden, which runs between February 12 and 15, and have made the trip to Scandinavia to prepare for the testing winter conditions.

The duo will have to cope with snowy terrain during the rally, although cars use special designed studded tyres to deal with the conditions.

Barritt is an experienced co-driver but Evans was competing in the Rally Sweden for the first time last year, in his debut season in the World Rally Championship.

The pair were on course for a top 10 finish in 2014 before they slid wide and hit a snow bank, forcing them to retire in their Ford Fiesta RS WRC car.

Barritt and Evans had tested in northern Sweden before last year’s event as well, when temperatures were minus 10 degrees.

But conditions warmed slightly for the rally itself and they were driving on gravel for some parts of the event rather than snow - something that their special tyres were not ideally suited for.

This time they will hope for better fortunes, having also seen an accident hamper their first rally of the 2015 season.

Barritt and Evans were pushing for a place in the top four at the Rallye Monte Carlo last month but they eventually finished seventh after clipping a wall, which caused damage to their rear suspension.
