RALLY navigator Jamie Foster will contest this month’s Jim Clark Rally with a new driving partner.

Foster, from Oswaldtwistle, will be on the maps for Lincolnshire businessman Andy Fenwick – and they have a new car too.

The pair will compete in the three-day event in Fenwick’s ex-works Volkswagen Polo Super 2000. Although Fenwick hasn’t contested the Jim Clark for three years, he’s a three times winner and Foster is looking forward to getting started.

He said: “I’m really excited about a return. I’ve missed the last three years because of business commitments, but I really enjoy it.

“I’m in a new car with a new co-driver who hasn’t sat in with me before or even seen the car.”

But Aerospace engineer Foster is no novice in the passenger seat.

Son of the well-known rally driver and organiser Tim Foster, the 23-year-old has been navigating since the age of 12.

Taught by his dad and World Rally Championship co-driver Daniel Barritt, from Barrowford, he has competed in the WRC Germany and also co-drove for the legendary Jimmy McRae in his Stobart Escort RS1800.

This year’s Jim Clark Rally takes place from May 30-June 1 and is based at the Borders Union Showground at Springwood Park in Kelso with a host of events across the three days.
