Blackburn Hawks team manager Graham Lomax is confident he will see a reaction from his players following last weekend’s disappointing defeat at home to local rivals Trafford Metros.
Hawks host Telford Titans at the Blackburn Arena tomorrow (face-off 5.45pm) and Lomax expects his charges to make amends.
“We had a good training session on Thursday night,” he said. “The lads have put the Trafford result out of their minds and moved on.
“I’m pretty optimistic we’ll see the team we need to see and get back to the level of performances we were at.
“I’m certain it was just a minor blip and the lads will bounce back.
“The fans deserve a lot better, because we were all bitterly disappointed with last week’s display.”
Tomorrow’s tea-time encounter will be the first of four meetings between the two teams, who are currently level on 14 points in the English National Ice Hockey League.
However, Telford have lost five of their last six league fixtures and Lomax hopes his side can pick up maximum points.
“Telford have been blowing a bit hot and cold this season,” he added. “They have had some good results and some bad results.
“We don’t really know what to expect from them on the day, but Jared Owen and Danny Brittle are from down there, so they should know some of their guys.
“It’s good to be playing a different team. It can become a monotonous when you’re playing the likes of Whitley or Billingham every week.
“It will be nice for the fans to see a different team in the Arena too.”
