Blackburn Hawks face to tough trip to English National Ice Hockey League North One top dogs Billingham Stars tomorrow night.
Hawks, who have endured a mixed start to the season, will put their league exploits on the back burner as they tackle unbeaten Billingham in the cup.
General manager Graham Lomax admitted that their recently-reformed opponents will pose a real threat.
“Billingham really are setting the pace this season,” said Lomax. “They are playing well and it is certainly a tough place to go now.
“That said, we are in high spirits as ever. We had a great win over Whitley last weekend and proved we can be a match for anyone.
“We put the lads through an intense training session during the week and they are really up for it.
“It was also a chance to have a look at a few new players who may be joining us soon. Having new faces about the place has helped up the pressure for places.”
Lance Derbyshire is the Hawks only injury doubt for the game with a groin strain, while they were boosted by the news that Ollie Lomax may be back from a serious shoulder injury earlier than expected.
