I THINK Sunday night was the first time I have seen a game called off because one side couldn’t make it but that’s what happened.

Solway were on their way down for the league match but the M6 was closed and they were stuck in traffic so it was decided to call the game off.

MORE TOP STORIES:

It was a bit of a blow because the lads were all ready to play and raring to go but there is nothing we can do about it.

We have been on a good run recently so we all wanted to play the game and try to carry that form on.

I suppose the one thing is that it gives some of the lads a chance to shake off any injuries or knocks for our cup game with Widnes Wild on Saturday.

The cup is an important competition to us.

We have a great chance of winning it. It is a mini-league involving ourselves, Widnes, Solway and Billingham and the winner of the league wins it, there is no final as such. We have played three and won three so far so we are in a good position.

We take the cup seriously. Some teams might think it is a Mickey Mouse competition but the sides that are in it are certainly taking it seriously and we will be playing our full team at the weekend.

It is not like football with all this rotation. In every game we go into we want to play our strongest side and win the game and this weekend will be no different.

It’s a relatively new competition and it is one we would love to win this year. We have done well in it so far and we want to make sure that continues on Saturday.

We have still to play Widnes twice in the cup and also have a game against Billingham so there is still a long way to go.

We’ve got a little break from the league now with three cup games in a row.

We know the league is in our control so we want to make sure we carry our good form into the cup.

It would be great to finish the season with three trophies.
