WE WERE disappointed not to get the win on Sunday as we were held to a 2-2 draw at Sutton Sting.

Richard Bentham scored twice for us and the second came very late in the game when we were 2-1 down and it looked like our unbeaten record might go.

While we are obviously disappointed not to get the win, we are aware we will get games like that this year.

We weren’t at our best by far, we had a few guys who were feeling under the weather, but that’s not an excuse.

Sutton had a great result on Saturday so they had their tails up. Having said we weren’t at our best, I still thought we dominated possession but just couldn’t find the cutting edge. It was a point gained in my opinion.

We know every game we play we need to be on our game to get the wins. If we’re not we will fall short and that’s what happened.

Luckily, we got the goal and shared the points. Character is something that runs deep through this team.

It is just a sheer refusal to be beaten, even when we aren’t at our best.

Next Saturday we travel to Whitley Warriors, who are now three points ahead of us after they won twice at the weekend, beating Billingham 2-1 away on Sunday and Telford Tigers 4-3 away on Saturday, although Whitley have played four games more than we have.

We play Whitley three times in three weeks in the league in the run-up to Christmas.

This Sunday it’s a big game and a big test for us, there is no shying away from it.

But it’s important to remember it’s just another team and another two points on the line. Every game is big.

I’m looking forward to a battle up at Whitley. We need a big practice on Thursday and to take that into the game.

It could go either way, but I’m confident we will get a win, as I’m sure Whitley will be. They’ll be confident, and why shouldn’t they? It’ll be a good one.
