ALTHOUGH we beat Solway Sharks in the cup over the weekend I don’t think our performance was the best, and we will address that.

We were lacking a bit of urgency, but we have been struggling with injuries.

They’ve had a few good results, they had their tails up, but it’s good to get the two points, we were 2-1 down at one point but won 4-2.

When you get into a winning habit, it’s hard to get out of it. Our performance on the whole wasn’t the best, whether it means bringing guys in to fill spots I don’t know. But if you’re winning games when you’re not at your best then that’s a good sign.

It does seem like we’ve got their number at the minute, we’ve played Solway a few times in the last month and beat them every time, with Sunday being the closest game. I don’t think we were ever in danger of losing it.

We gave up a few cheap chances, which we don’t usually do, but we only had three senior defenders on Sunday before Aaron Davies got thrown out early for an accidental high sticks, which messed us up again.

That’s two wins from two in the cup. People have been saying it’s a pointless cup but we want to win every game we play and if that means getting another trophy at the end of the season, then great.

We’ve got a two-week break now so hopefully we can get a few people fit and work on a few things. I keep saying it but we’ve got two of our main defenders out in Max Drakeley and Andy Dunn and Chris Butler is out now with his knee, so we are struggling.

I don’t know if that means bringing people in, I’m sure they will look at that, but we’ve just to get on with it and not make any excuses.

We’ve got a big game in two weeks’ time against Solihull.

From now on in it’s a pretty hectic schedule, December is going to be a really tough month. We will have to knuckle down and make the most of this free weekend, rest up and then go again.
