BLACKBURN Hawks head coach Daniel MacKriel believes the re-signing of last season's player of the year Adam Brittle will have a crucial effect on his side as they seek to retain their Moralee Conference title.

The Hawks also claimed play-off glory in a stunning season last time around and MacKriel believes Brittle, who is joined by his brother and assistant coach Daniel in staying on at the Blackburn Arena, can continue to inspire the team.

MacKriel said: “It’s massive to keep a player of Adams quality at the Hawks this year.

"A lot of focus is of course of his point scoring ability but what he also brings is all round quality, high work ethic and a desire to win.

"Adam is an experienced player that the rest of the team look up to.

"It’s a real coup for the club to keep him and I’m delighted he is back with us next season.”

Brittle was awarded player of the year in Dumfries in April for the second year running.
