WE will get our hands on the league trophy on Sunday after our home game with Billingham.

Perhaps then it will all sink in a bit more and make it all feel real.

MORE TOP STORIES:

Hopefully there will be a big crowd there to see the silverware come home, and we can put on a show to mark the occasion.

And fingers crossed, with just four league games to go, we can keep that unbeaten run going.

Now we’ve sealed the top spot there are a number of teams fighting for the other three for the play-offs, so even if we wanted to we couldn’t take our foot off the gas.

Everyone has upped their game for the run-in.

Having said that I expected more of a desire to win from Sutton Sting on Saturday.

It was a bit of a weird one because they just sat back and defended for the majority of the game. We dominated and deserved the win.

The 3-0 scoreline probably didn’t do us justice because we were pretty much camped out in their zone for long periods.

But their goalie had a great game and kept the score down.

Sunday was a tough, high tempo game at Whitley.

They are second bottom and fighting for their lives not to be in the relegation play-offs.

But it’s never an easy game up there anyway to be honest, they are quite a chippy side and put you under pressure all the time.

True to form, they came out flying. They took the lead; we equalised. They scored again; we equalised again. Then we stepped it up and saw the game out, but they made us work for the 5-2 win.

Billingham will be the same on Sunday. They will want to come and beat us.

I wouldn’t want it any other way, though because we want to be challenged and go into the play-offs on top form.

We have four games left and it’s still our desire to stay unbeaten for the whole season.

That’s the focus now.
