AT the end of an emotional week it was great for us to get two victories and keep our unbeaten run going.

We had a minute’s silence for Alan Amos before Saturday’s game as well as a minute’s applause and I think it did get to the players a little bit. I think it stayed with all of us during the game.

MORE TOP STORIES:

We were all close to Alan and it was great that we were able to win it for him on Saturday.

It was a tough match and I don’t think we were at our best but there was a lot going on and in the end we were pleased to get the result.

We played well in parts and to come away having won 9-4 was pleasing.

Sunday was a really good performance as well. We were 3-1 down and scored four unanswered goals in the final period which not many teams do at Billingham and in the end won 5-3.

We really went up two or three gears in the final period and I don’t think there was any doubt that we would win the game. We wanted to win two for Alan and we showed our character to get the two points.

Time and again this squad have shown they have what it takes to get the results and it was another important win.

It means we are 11 points clear of Billingham at the top of the table.

If they had beaten us then perhaps the momentum would have shifted and maybe we would start to panic a little bit but as it is we are now only three wins away from winning the league.

It could come as early as February 15 if results go our way but all season we have been good at taking it one game at a time.

We are not looking at where we might win the league, we are looking at winning every game and the league will take care of itself.

It looks like we will win it, which is great, but it is still very much one game at a time.

Plus we want to go through the season unbeaten. That is a big target for us. We will have the play-offs coming up and we want to make sure we go in there with a bit of momentum.

For now we will get ready for our home game against Solway on Sunday. They won’t come here and roll over and we know it will be tough.
