BLACKBURN Hawks will be looking to build on a shock victory over an EPL side last weekend when they return to league action tomorrow.

The Hawks stunned Peterborough Phantoms 8-2 in their English Challenge Cup (North) group last Sunday.

The day before they swept aside the Moralee Conference’s bottom club Manchester Minotaurs 7-0, having beaten the same outfit 16-0 in Blackburn the week before.

After their cup exploits it’s a return to league action tomorrow as the Hawks travel to County Durham to face the Billingham Stars.

Following the double over local rivals Minotaurs the Hawks are now eight points clear at the top of the Moralee Conference having won 11 and drawn two of their 13 games this season.

Their usual adversary Solway Sharks are second, while the Stars are a point further back having ended a run of seven matches without a win with a 8-1 league success over Whitley Warriors on January 11.

They followed that up last weekend with a comfortable 12-0 win over the Minotaurs.

But the Hawks have their eyes set on an unbeaten season and success in the Moralee Conference, and they will make the trip north in confident mood.

The goals were shared out against the Phantoms, with Luke Brittle getting two and player coach Jared Owen, Jordan Bannon, David Meikle, Richard Ravey, Tom King and Adam Brittle all on the scoresheet.

The fixture also marked the return of Jake Nurse following the fractured eye socket he suffered in early November, and he should be involved once again in the north east.
