WE’VE had another very good weekend which started with a good win at our big rivals Solway Sharks.

It was always going to be a tough game for us but we came through it well. Then on Sunday we put up a good show against EPL side Telford Tigers in the cup.

We are having a good run against Solway this year, they won the treble last year so they’re a good side and these are the games that decide if you win championships.

It was a very good performance from us to win 4-1 up there. We went there confident we could get a good result and we backed that up.

These sorts of results lay down a marker to the other teams in the league. These are the games last season that we failed to win and we paid for it. We knew what we had to do this season and at the moment we are doing it.

It keeps the unbeaten run going, which is something we’ve never really had before. It’s nice to be on that kind of run and it makes us the team to beat at the moment. Everybody wants to be the ones to end our run.

We’re seven points clear at the top of the league now, which is a fantastic start. We couldn’t be in a better position but we have to keep going forward and keep winning games to maintain that.

The game at Solway was a very physical one and it was a tough turnaround to be back in Blackburn on the Sunday for the cup game. There were a few lads with some bruises but I thought we did really well, considering Telford are an EPL side. Losing 5-2 is our best result against an EPL side this season.

We lost 7-1 down in Telford and we all wanted to improve on that, which we managed to do.

They’re a top side but I thought we defended really well.

There’s always going to be the odd occasion you lose your man playing against these top players, but for the most part we were strong defensively. We managed to get a couple of goals as well and keeping the score low gives us a lot of confidence going forward.

People have said getting beat by EPL teams must be detrimental, but we don’t see it that way. We know they are tough games, but we can take confidence from Sunday’s performance.

It also gives us a chance to learn and experience a few things that we don’t get in our own league, and I think it can only help us.
